TEXAS · STATE MARKET

Search & AI visibility in Texas

Three trades with an explicit digital-inclusive disclosure rule, and three with no state licence to disclose at all.

Where we actually are

Mindflow works from one place: Atlanta, Georgia. We do not keep an office in Texas, and you will not find an address for us here, because there isn't one. What we do have is a client base across the Southeast and a practice built for markets we serve rather than markets we sit in. Our one real location is here.

Key takeaways
  • HVAC, electrical and plumbing carry explicit advertising-disclosure duties in Texas
  • The plumbing rule applies regardless of media type, the clearest digital wording of any state we serve
  • Roofing, fencing, garage door and general contracting have no state licence at all
  • Where the state offers no credential to verify, trust signals have to be built deliberately
MARKET CONDITIONS

What the Texas market actually looks like

Texas is the largest market on this list and the one where the licensing picture splits most sharply down the middle. Three trades are tightly regulated with clear advertising duties. Three have no state licence at all.

That split matters for how a marketing programme is built. For a Texas roofing company there is no state licence number to display and no state register to verify against, which means trust signals have to be constructed from things that can be verified: manufacturer certifications, insurance, real reviews, named crews. For a Texas plumbing company the number goes on everything, because the rule says so.

COMPLIANCE

Texas regulates by trade, and the wording is unusually modern

HVAC, electrical and plumbing all carry advertising-disclosure duties: 16 TAC §75.71(h) for HVAC, 16 TAC §73.51(e) for electrical, and 22 TAC §367.10(c) for plumbing. The plumbing rule is the most explicit of any state we serve, it applies regardless of the type of media used, which settles the digital question in a way Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina never did.

The duties reach advertisements, vehicles, invoices and proposals, with business cards named specifically for electrical and plumbing.

Roofing, fencing, garage door and general contracting have no Texas state licence, and therefore no number to disclose. This is a positioning problem to solve rather than a loophole to exploit. When the state gives a buyer no credential to check, the credential has to come from somewhere else, and building that is a real part of the work in this market.

HOW WE'D APPROACH IT

Building credibility where the state supplies none

The unlicensed trades are the interesting problem in Texas. A roofing company in Dallas competes against firms that are indistinguishable from it on every credential a buyer can check, because there is no credential to check. The state register that would settle the question in Florida simply does not exist here.

So the work becomes constructing verifiable trust rather than displaying it. Manufacturer certifications with issuing bodies named. Insurance and bonding stated with carriers and limits. Reviews attached to real named jobs rather than aggregate star counts. Crew and project documentation that a buyer, or an AI answer engine summarising the market, can actually cite.

That last point matters more each quarter. When a language model is asked to recommend a roofer in Texas, it assembles an answer from what it can verify. Vague authority claims give it nothing to work with. Specific, checkable ones give it something to repeat.

BY TRADE

What changes trade by trade here

Licensing, permitting and seasonality land differently depending on what you sell. These pages carry the same sourced figures with the trade lens applied.

HVAC marketing in Texas →
A licence required in every permanent location, and a capital city on a different mechanical code.
Roofing marketing in Texas →
No state licence, one city that registers roofers, and a statute governing every insurance contract.
METRO PAGES

Market notes by metro

State rules set the floor. What actually differs between these markets is climate, housing stock, storm exposure and which body issues the permit.

Houston →
No zoning, and unincorporated Harris County issues no trade permits.
Dallas–Fort Worth →
602 logged hail events in ten years, and a bimodal housing market.
Austin →
The newest housing stock in Texas, and a pre-sale HVAC audit ordinance.
San Antonio →
City registration covers roofing and fencing where the state licenses neither.
WHO THIS IS FOR

The businesses we work with in Texas

The thread is not industry. It is deal value. Every engagement we take has a customer worth enough that one won job pays for months of the work, and a buying journey long enough that search and AI answers sit inside it.

  • Home services. regional and multi-location HVAC, roofing, plumbing, electrical, fencing, garage door and remodeling companies. This is the vertical where our documented results are
  • High-value legal. firms where a single matter carries real value and the buying journey runs weeks, not minutes
  • Specialty healthcare. multi-location practices and medical aesthetics, where consultation volume and reputation move together
  • Considered-purchase eCommerce. high-AOV, brand-led retail with a researched purchase, rather than commodity or marketplace-dependent selling
How we measure it

No case studies on this page, and that is deliberate

We are not going to show you another agency's logo wall. Our documented results are in home services, and we say so on every page rather than implying transferable outcomes we have not earned in a vertical.

What we can show you is the method, in full, before you pay anything: the six-layer audit, the sampling protocol we score visibility with, and a real report with the numbers left in. No ranking guarantees. Just transparent measurement and documented work.

FAIR QUESTIONS

Fair questions about working with us in Texas

Does Texas require my licence number in advertising?

It depends entirely on your trade. HVAC, electrical and plumbing: yes, with the plumbing rule explicitly covering any media. Roofing, fencing, garage door and general contracting: there is no state licence, so there is nothing to disclose.

How do you build trust for a trade with no state licence?

Deliberately. Manufacturer certifications, verifiable insurance, real named reviews, crew and project documentation. When the state gives a buyer nothing to check, the page has to supply something checkable.

Do you have an office in Texas?

No. We work from Atlanta. Texas is a service area and this page says so plainly.
